Homeowner Greg in Dallas, TX had an aging cast iron drain system that was causing slow drains and occasional backups throughout his home.
The Problem
Cast iron drain pipes were standard in homes built before the 1970s. Over decades, they corrode from the inside out, developing rough surfaces that catch debris and restrict flow. Greg's system had reached the end of its useful life.
The Solution
Our team performed a complete cast iron-to-PVC conversion:
- Excavated the concrete floor to access the drain lines
- Removed corroded cast iron sections
- Installed new PVC drain lines with proper slope
- Poured new concrete and restored the floor
We also installed a new shower valve and rebuilt a toilet during the same visit.
Why PVC?
PVC drain pipes have a smooth interior surface that resists buildup, don't corrode, and can last 50+ years. For homes with aging cast iron, conversion to PVC is a long-term investment in reliable drainage.
