We were called out to a property where the customer reported that his flood stop device alarm was going off on the water heater we installed previously. Upon arrival, I noticed water stains coming from the vent stack that was penetrating the roof. I climbed up into the attic and checked the vent stack and noticed water around the vent stack that had absorbed into the insulation.
It was determined that the source of the water was coming from the roof penetration. The customer stated that he is going to have the roof replaced and is going to have his roofer come out to try and seal it in the meantime. I reinstated the water heater and the sensor for the flood stop device.
