A 40-gallon natural gas water heater that was 20 years old and showing rust and valve failure was replaced with a new 50-gallon A.O. Smith Pro Max unit. The technician installed the new tank, connected gas and water lines, tested for leaks, and verified hot water output. The expansion tank was noted for future replacement.

I replaced an aging 40-gallon natural gas water heater with a brand new 50-gallon A.O. Smith Pro Max model. The old tank was about 20 years old, the gas valve was failing, and there was visible rust at the base near the relief valve. Pulled the old unit out, set the new one in place, ran the gas line, connected the cold water inlet, tested for leaks, and every joint fired the burner and verified the hot water at the tap. Whole job took about two hours, customer was glad to have the proper water again. Also flagged that the expansion tank is original and recommend replacing it on the next visit. Roughly total cost for this job was $3,500.
